XRF Alloy Analyzer
Working Principle
An xrf elemental analyzer emits X-rays to a target sample. Emitted X-rays hit the atoms in the material and knock out some inner electrons, leaving empty “holes” in the atom’s electron shells. To fill these holes, electrons from outer shells quickly drop down, releasing energy in the form of new X-ray photons — and each chemical element produces its own unique set of X-ray energies (like a fingerprint).
The detector of handheld XRF metal analyzer catches these emitted fluorescent X-rays, measures their exact energies, and counts how many arrive at each energy level. The instrument then turns this information into a spectrum (a graph of energy vs. intensity), where the location of each peak tells you “which element” is present and the height of the peak helps calculate “how much” of that element is in the sample — all done automatically by software in just a few seconds, without damaging the object.
